Home Support Worker (Auxiliary on-call)

Salary: starting at $30.13/hour —- 41.98/hour

Overview

The Home Support Worker is a member of the Wellness Team who provides home support for clients in the clients’ home. They assist with activities of daily living (ADL) and household duties ensuring safety and comfort while maintaining optimal health and independence. The Home Support Worker acts as a client advocate and will facilitate communication between the clients, family and other health care professionals to meet the client’s physical, psycho-social, spiritual, cultural, and medical education needs.

Duties

  • Non-Medical Home Maker Services: Perform Non-Medical Home Maker Services for those who need assistance in the home, by performing house cleaning and meal preparation.
  • Transportation: Assist with providing transportation for Elders and community members who need assistance going to medical appointments, potlatches, and shopping.
  • Personal Care Plans: Participate under the supervision of the Home and community care Coordinator inIdentifying barriers in the home.
  • Respite Care: participate in providing respite care when needed under the supervision of the Home & Community Care Coordinator
  • Elders Activities: Participate in cultural and recreational activities for KFN Elders to promote healthy lifestyles.
  • Administrative duties: Record Client Care plans and maintain files.
  • Related duties and/or other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Home Care Diploma or one-year equivalent experience

Experience working with First Nation Citizens and Communities

Lands, Resources & Heritage Director

Status: Permanent, Full-Time

Salary: LT-2, $51.41 to $72.30 per hour (depending on experience)

Based on 70 hours biweekly

Overview

Reporting to the Executive Director this position is responsible for the implementation of the Kluane First Nation Land Claim Agreement and overseeing the protection and development of Kluane First Nation Land, Resources, and Heritage. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Land, Resources and Heritage Departments.
  • Implement the Kluane First Nation Final Agreement.
  • Identify areas of cultural, ecological, economic, historical or social importance
  • Develop policies and land-use plans in accordance with the goals and purposes of the First Nation.
  • Assist the public in understanding the laws, policies, and activities of the department.
  • Conduct research and analysis of existing and proposed policies, regulations, operational procedures and legislative changes, examining policy options and their implications and recommending the most appropriate course of action.
  • Liaise and maintain a good working relationship with First Nations, industry and federal and territorial government officials on land, resources and heritage management issues
  • Provide functional advice to the Chief and Council and staff on issues relating to land, resources and heritage

Education and Experience

The successful candidate will possess a degree in Land Management, Resource Management, First Nation Management, Public Administration or equivalent.  In addition, they should possess training in financial management and human resources.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of Kluane First Nation history, culture, and traditions.
  • Ability to lead, plan, direct, set goals, objectives, and priorities, facilitate strategies, work plans, and staff/citizen development and training plans.
  • Ability to set direction for others and evaluate progress.
  • Ability to develop budgets and manage financial and material resources.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and deadlines.
  • Ability to develop and implement legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to put political direction into action.
  • Ability to facilitate small to large groups.
  • Ability to deal effectively with boards and committees from within and outside the organization.
